Catholicism
Photographs taken of Catholic events, such as Solemn Mass, Liturgy of the Lord's Passion, etc.
Photographing religious events involves difficulties you simply do not encounter otherwise. You have to somehow mix being entirely invisible with capturing intimate moments and the Liturgy itself. I am still learning this balance, but I do believe I am growing in effectiveness. It is most similar to event photography, but I'd argue that 'catholic photography' is a genre itself. One of the most notable challenges for the location I took these photographs is the lighting, meaning my ISO either has to be extremely high or I need to have really steady hands, as such, the editing on these photos can take significantly longer than other photography I do.
As a Catholic, mixing two of my passions is, of course, an amazing privilege, and one I do not take lightly. Thank you to the Bournemouth Oratory for the privilege of being one of the only people to photograph their Masses and other liturgies.
